सिगरेट तुझे पी रही है

सुलगा के उसका छोर

खींचता है कश पे कश 

तू भूल जाता है अंदर 

मासूम रूह जी रही है

अपने होंठों को जलाए

छल्ले है तू उड़ाता

तेरी रूह का दम है घुटता 

वो अपने होंठ सी रही है 

तड़पती है सिसकती है 

और तुझे ये कहती है

"तू सिगरेट नहीं पी रहा 

सिगरेट तुझे पी रही है"

Clicked somewhere in Uttarakhand by the banks of river Ramganga. And the white clouds congregated that day to make themselves look perfectly smoky. 

I quit smoking long ago. Have strayed there only occasionally since. But the thought of a friend and his resolution to quit smoking, triggered my poetics today. Am happy for his family.
